Exploring Self-Employment Workshop

Starting a business requires a lot of planning, effort and dedication. But if you've never started your own business before, it’s important to know what's involved and if you're suited to self-employment, before you start.
 
The Exploring Self-Employment Workshop helps you critically evaluate yourself, your business idea and the challenges of owning a business.  

Duration:

25 hours.

Format:

In-person and online group workshop.

Objective:

To help individuals make informed decisions about whether to pursue self-employment.

More Detail:

The Exploring Self-Employment Workshop will help you:

  • gain a better understanding of what’s involved when starting a business

  • generate a business idea (if required)

  • validate your business idea, and 

  • make an informed decision as to whether self-employment is right for you.

Delivered in an interactive, real-time learning environment where  you can easily interact with other workshop participants and Business Mentors.

In addition Birdifi Bridge helps you accelerate your success by providing you the option of accessing a range of free accelerators, including weekly networking.

Eligibility:

To be eligible to access Self-Employment Services, you must:

  • be at least 15 years of age,

  • not be prohibited by law from working in Australia,

  • not be an overseas visitor on a working holiday visa or an overseas student studying in Australia,

  • not be an undischarged bankrupt, 

  • not be enrolled in full-time secondary education, and

 

In addition, to be eligible to access an Exploring Self-Employment Workshop, you must:

  • not have attended an Exploring Self-Employment Workshop in the last 12 months

 

Further, Birdifi Bridge must be comfortable that you are aware of the Self-Employment Assistance Services available to you, you have made an informed decision that this is the service most applicable to you and that you have the capacity and capability to benefit from this service.


Participants in Transition to Work
Transition to Work participants are eligible to access Exploring Self-Employment Workshops.

 

Somerset Region Eligibility

To be eligible to receive Self-Employment Assistance from Birdifi Bridge, you must:

  • live within the Somerset Employment Region*, or

  • have, or propose to have, a business address within the Somerset Employment Region*

 

*the Somerset Employment Region includes the Brisbane CBD, Caboolture and Kilcoy. You can view an interactive map of the region here.
